PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To perform day to day Mechanical Operator tasks and activities as specified according to operational procedures and requirements.

 
QUALIFICATION(S) & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Qualification(s) Minimum:

Minimum Requirements:

Qualifications:

·        Grade 12 or N3 with Mathematics and Science

Experience:

·        At least 1-year relevant experience in a Chemical plant environment regarding equipment maintenance.

·        General knowledge of the technical field.

Ideal Requirements

Qualifications: (Same as minimum plus the following)

  • National Diploma

 

Training:

·          Relevant registered skills programs or unit standards successfully completed

 

Experience:

·        At least 2-3-year experience relevant to the technical field

HEADLINE KEY RESULT AREAS: 

  • Prepare work area for an Artisan
  • Conduct inspections for preventative maintenance
  • Use correct equipment to line up equipment to specifications
  • Carry out minor arc welding/gas welding and cutting work
  • Interpret sketches and drawings
  • Carry out breakdown maintenance
  • Dismantle/replace/repair/assemble and fit engineering equipment/components
  • Remove/replace and align equipment (gearboxes; pumps; V-Belts )
  • Ensure quality of work and safety standards are adhered to
  • Ensure good housekeeping
