PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To carry out all welding activities required for plant/section maintenance.

QUALIFICATION(S) & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Grade 12 / N3 with Mathematics and Science
• Qualified Welder with Trade Test
• Coded Welder - 6G

Experience:

• 3 years post trade test experience in a similar working environment
• Argon welding experience

Ideal Requirements:

Qualifications: (Same as minimum plus the following)

• Diploma in Engineering
• SAIW Certification
• Completion of the following SHEQ training:
  • GHSTC (General Safety, Health & Environmental Training)
  • HIRA (Risk Analysis)

Experience:

• 5 years post trade test, relevant to the trade (advantageous)

HEADLINE KEY RESULT AREAS:

• Identify and use correct welding consumables for material
• Qualified to use stick arc welding and MIG welding machines
• Must have experience of argon welding and understand the methods of welding
• Ensure correct use of gas cutting and heating equipment
• Tack and arc weld work pieces incidental to the trade using manual metal arc welding techniques
• Utilise all tools and equipment required for welding
• Ensure that welding tasks and activities correspond with daily job cards
• Make sure that stores requisitions correspond with items received
• Effective knowledge of basic rigging
• Effective knowledge of drawings and sketches
• Adhere to requirements for safety within the work environment
• Effective cleaning after work completion
• Effective inspection and testing
